Personal Information
I live in Cambridge, England,
and am married to Rose Melikan,
who teaches in the University. Here's a picture of Rose, and
clicking on it will show you another, taken on a mountain
above Lake Como, Italy.
Rose has a very different area of expertise from mine! She's an academic historian/lawyer who is also rapidly becoming a novelist. More information at rosemelikan.com.
Fun stuff
I (Quentin, not Rose!) am very fond of cheesecake, wine, Sainsbury's gooseberry fools, and Loseley 'Stem Ginger & Acacia Honey' ice cream. Recently, though, I've been on a gentle diet which means that most of these have been relegated to 'occasional treats' rather than 'staple diet'.
I also like doing silly things such as parachuting, bungee-jumping, scuba diving and horse-riding from time to time, but then I started doing startup companies and other things tended to fall by the wayside.
My favourite part of the world (so far) is the Lake District in the north-west of England. Here's a picture of Rose and me on a walk around Kentmere. Click on it for a bigger version.
Floods
If you know Cambridge, you might be interested in some pictures I took recently when the river rose a little higher than usual.
Status-Q
I fairly regularly scribble some notes on my weblog at statusq.org. Status-Q started in... golly... Feb 2001. So I guess it's a habit that's stuck.
Toot-toot!
Rose's mother, Ruth Ann, was for many years a guide at the Henry Ford estate at Fair Lane. Here I am in a Model T.
Other Photos
I have miscellaneous collections of photos in the 'Photos' category of my blog and on Flickr.
